About Me

My name is Troy Black, and I’m a photographer based in Toronto, Ontario who specializes in sports and event photography. In my spare time, I also coach baseball.

For a long time, my entire life was baseball - eventually attending the University of Maine on an athletic scholarship (go Black Bears), and signing a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles. A little aimless after being sent home due to an injury, I picked up a camera for the first time and started taking pictures - having no idea that pressing the shutter for the first time would lead me down an entirely different career path.

Passionate people inspire me, and the opportunity to work alongside so many athletes and artists who share my level of passion is a huge driving force in my career. Ultimately my goal is to tell the stories of these passionate individuals and help create images that evoke feeling.

If I’m not behind the camera, I’m either doing everything I can to book a flight to anywhere, or I’m on a baseball diamond telling a young infielder that they should have charged that last ground ball.
